10:03 AM Good Morning on the Dawn of a New Day!

It's Inauguration Day. We are witnessing a Beautiful and Historical day today. I am so glad to be able to watch it even though I am watching from my laptop at the office. I have two different feeds running side by side. The others in my office are running feeds as well at their desks. Never before have I been old enough to really honestly and Truely appreciate an Inauguration Day. And never before have I noticed so many others as engaged in the process as I am. Even just for that this is an historical day, I do believe!

Today, I wish for everyone blessings of peace, and hope, and happiness. No matter what our political affilliations, we are all in this together. We can only make our country better if we stand side by side and, in the wise words of my hero, Tim Gunn, "Make It Work."

8:08 PM Photos from Vigil for Burma

I've been sitting on these images for a while now. I just hadn't had a chance to download them to see if I had anything worth posting. I took very few photos because it was very windy and once the wind stopped the light was gone. But here are the best of the crop and, to me, the most meaningful.


These candles represent the rally for Democracy on 8/8/1988 and each year up to the 8/8/2008 anniversary.


And this is a vigil candle lit by a demostrator in rememberance.

8:07 PM Vigil for Burma

I'm no where Near well read on this topic, so please excuse me for not speaking about it at length.

Since the tsunami in Myanmar, the world is beginning to get the picture that Burma's government is not exactly on the level for human rights.

On August 8th, there is a Global Day of Action for Burma. According to the Dallas Feminists Meetup Group, the Vigil for Burma will be held at 7pm on Friday Aug 8, 2008 at Dallas City Hall Plaza, 1500 Marilla St.

There are activities going on all over the US and in other countries, so if this particular issue is close to your heart, join the world in making a stand.
